Mt. Spokane allows uphill ski access with a valid season Uphill Ski Season Pass. Fees paid for uphill access allows Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park to provide services such as grooming, run maintenance, safety services, and further development of the mountain.

An Uphill Pass allows access to the designated Uphill Routes during approved times. An Uphill Season Pass does not have chairlift benefits. Uphill Pass Includes Early Hours Parking Pass.

Those with a current Downhill Winter Season Pass, do not need to purchase an Uphill Season Pass and are welcome to use the Uphill Routes. Visit Guest Services for an Early Hours Parking Permit.

Uphill Rules & Guidelines

  • Never begin traveling uphill before 7:15am. State Park opens at 7am and does not permit skier vehicle traffic prior to that time.
  • Uphill parking permit must be displayed when parking at Lodge 1, between 7:15am–9am.
  • No dogs allowed on ski terrain including uphill routes.
  • Travel uphill only on the designated routes.
  • Stay completely to the edge of ski trails.
  • Observe posted signs, warnings, and trail closures. Always review daily report online.
  • Watch for and yield to all downhill skiers and machinery.
  • Be aware of dangers: winch-cat operations, grooming, snowpack instability, deep powder—all can be deadly.
  • Do not stop in high-traffic zones, where you are likely to obstruct a trail, or where you are not visible to downhill traffic.
  • All uphill travelers in the patrolled ski area boundary are considered skiers and are required to familiarize themselves with Uphill Skier policies, Skier’s Responsibility Code, RCW 79A.45.030, and Mt. Spokane rules and policies. Mt. Spokane accepts no liability or responsibility for accidents that occur because of uphill travel. RCW 4.24.210
  • Dogs are NOT permitted within the alpine ski area except in the parking lots. Outside the boundary of the ski area, dogs must always be leashed and under their owner’s control.
  • Specific routes may be closed at any given time due to safety or hazardous conditions. These conditions include but are not limited to; hazard trees, construction, and grooming or maintenance operations. Check the Mt. Spokane Snow Report for notices of closures or route changes.
  • Hourglass, No Alibi, and Two-Face often necessitate the use of a winch grooming system which can create extreme safety hazards during winch operations. Uphill travelers must be visible (by wearing headlamps during hours of darkness) and yield to all downhill traffic whether person or machine.
  • Users are welcome to travel outside of the ski area boundary, using Washington State Parks trail systems in accordance with subjective policies. The standard summit route for skiers and snowshoers starts at the Lower Selkirk Parking Lot. It ascends Trail 131, skirts left along the lower edge of B-29 to Trail 130, passes the Bald Knob Picnic Shelter, and then ascends to the Mt. Spokane summit straight up the fall line staying south of the patrolled boundary. Once on the summit, it is permissible to hike north to the Vista House (see map). If parked outside the Mt. Spokane Ski & Snowboard Park, you must purchase a Sno-park pass through WA State Parks.

Designated Times for Uphill Travel
